The ministry will be holding another round of open houses to gather input and feedback from the public on the development of future transportation improvement options for the Central Okanagan and Highway 97 corridor.
Public engagement is planned for March 27, 28 and 30 in Lake Country, Kelowna and West Kelowna to share a wide range of preliminary options for public input before the study team completes the screening and evaluation process.
This will be the ministry’s third round of consultations with the public. Previous sessions shared and obtained input on existing and forecast future conditions on the corridor.

Quick Facts:
- By 2040, the William R. Bennett Bridge will reach capacity in its current configuration.
- The approaches on the Kelowna side will reach capacity before then.
- By 2040, a trip along the full length of the corridor (between Peachland and Lake Country) will take almost 15 minutes longer in the morning-peak hour and up to 24 minutes longer in the afternoon-peak hour.
- By 2040, almost all signalized intersections within developed areas will have significant congestion and delay.
