Work has completed on a safety improvement project at the Highway 97 and 254 Road intersection.
“Highway 97 north of Fort St. John sees the highest percentage of commercial transport vehicles in the province,” said Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Claire Trevena. “The intersection improvements provide safer access for local residents, improve traffic flow and make travelling on this section of road better.”
The intersection has been widened, new lighting has been added and sight lines have been improved for motorists turning onto Highway 97 from 254 Road, known locally as the Montney Highway. These improvements will make driving safer and more efficient for both commercial and public drivers.
Brocor Construction Ltd. out of Dawson Creek carried out the $2.33-million project.
The ministry is committed to rehabilitating highways and bridges throughout British Columbia, and to building new infrastructure where it is needed. The B.C. government will continue to invest in transportation infrastructure for the safe, reliable and efficient movement of people and goods.
