New traffic signals are in place on Highway 16 at Bear Road and Kimball Road, making the intersection safer and more efficient for motorists.
The project included installation of new traffic signals, traffic islands and a right-turn lane for westbound traffic onto Kimball Road. These upgrades will also make it safer for pedestrians to cross the intersection.
The new traffic signals are expected to be fully operational by the evening of Thursday, Nov. 16. Final work on the traffic islands will be completed in spring 2018.
This was a day-labour project, which hired local equipment and operators. The $1-million improvements were funded by the Province of B.C. and the City of Prince George.
The ministry is committed to rehabilitating highways and bridges throughout British Columbia, and to building new infrastructure where it is needed. The B.C. government will continue to invest in transportation infrastructure for the safe, reliable and efficient movement of people and goods.
