The Find Your Fit tour stop in Kaslo is a great opportunity for students to get valuable hands-on experience with helpful career-planning tools.
WorkBC’s Find Your Fit tour will be in Kaslo at J. V. Humphries Elementary-Secondary school on Thursday, Jan. 18, and will be open to the public from 3:15 p.m. to 7 p.m.
“I’m calling on all Kaslo residents to come find their career. We need it all. Regardless of your interest, there is something here for you,” said Melanie Mark, Minister of Advanced Education, Skills and Training. “At the Find Your Fit stop in Kaslo, you can learn more about high-demand career opportunities and build a roadmap for your future.”
Students can visit up to 16 career activity stations where they can take part in a hands-on activity related to a specific career, like taking someone’s blood pressure. These activities will help students uncover their strengths and interests, giving them the knowledge they need to get started with their career planning. They can then move on to a labour-market information station, where they can dig deeper into a career of their choice.
Industries such as tourism, tech and health care will need a broad range of skilled British Columbians. The Find Your Fit tour stop in Kaslo is an opportunity to get insight into careers that are in demand by a diverse range of industries that are important to building a strong, sustainable and innovative 21st-century economy for that works for everyone.
“All of B.C., and here in the Kootenays, we need more skilled workers,” said Michelle Mungall, MLA for Nelson-Creston. “The Find Your Fit tour stop in Kaslo is a wonderful opportunity for students and parents to learn about the education and training needed in B.C.’s workforce.”
