Lana Popham, Minister of Agriculture, has issued the following statement to recognize and thank B.C.’s agriculture sector this Thanksgiving long weekend:
“This weekend, thousands of British Columbians will gather around their dinner tables or in restaurants and enjoy a delicious Thanksgiving dinner.
“As you enjoy the company of family and friends, I encourage you to take a moment and thank our British Columbia farmers, producers and processors.
“They are amazing people! From grain growers in the Peace River to ranchers in the Cariboo, from orchardists in the Okanagan to turkey growers in the Fraser Valley, from cranberry growers in the Lower Mainland to vegetable growers on Vancouver Island and to fisher people up and down our coast.
“One of the best ways to thank them is by making sure to Buy BC products as you start to plan your meal. The Buy BC logo is there to help you easily identify food and beverages grown in your community and province.
“During this harvest season, there is an incredible selection of B.C. foods and beverages to choose from.
“I encourage everyone to reach for B.C. at their local farmers market, grocery store and liquor store as a thank you to our farmers, producers and processors.
“To the people of B.C. agriculture, as I prepare my Thanksgiving dinner this weekend, I’ll be thinking about you and your passion and hard work.
“Thank you for allowing me to serve as your champion for agriculture and food production in B.C.
“On behalf of the Province, happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!”
