The BC Wildfire Service continues to respond to 19 wildfires in the Nadina and Bulkley fire zones, resulting from a band of lightning that entered the area on Wednesday, June 20 and Thursday, June 21, 2018.

These fires are not threatening any communities or structures.

There were 36 new fire starts since June 20 in the Northwest Fire Centre. Of the 36 fires, 17 are currently out, five are under control, two are being held, and the rest are being addressed by crews in priority sequence.

Wildfires in the Northwest Fire Centre over two hectares:

• The Taltapin Lake fire (R10672) is about four kilometres south of Taltapin Lake and covers about 134 hectares. There are 58 personnel on site today with six pieces of heavy equipment and one helicopter.
• The New Bird Lake wildfire (R10644) is about five kilometres south of Cheslatta Lake and is currently estimated to be 55 hectares in size. Seventeen personnel are on site today with one piece of heavy equipment.
• The Maxan Lake fire (R10582) is about 30 kilometres west of Burns Lake and covers about 94 hectares. There are 33 personnel on site and the status of this fire is under control.
• The Endako fire (R10649) is about three kilometres west of the Endako Mine and five kilometers north of Francois Lake. This fire is estimated to be 15 hectares in size and is under control. There are 20 personnel on site today.
• The Four Mile Creek fire (R10596) is about five kilometres south off the south end of Babine Lake. This fire is estimated to be three hectares in size and is under control. There are eight personnel on site today.
