Bruce Ralston, Minister of Jobs, Trade and Technology, has issued the following statement on the July 2018 Labour Force Survey:
“The Labour Force Survey results show that our economy is working for people. For the sixth month in a row, B.C. leads Canada in year-over-year wage growth, showing that people are finally starting to see the benefits of our strong economy. We have the lowest unemployment rate in Canada at 5%, and the lowest youth unemployment rate at 9.4%.
“All around B.C., from the North Coast to the Kootenays, employment is up as people are finding jobs. With over 7,000 more full-time jobs than this time last year, more and more people are finding stable work instead of trying to balance part-time jobs to make ends meet.
“This is good news for British Columbia.”
