Premier John Horgan and Lana Popham, Minister of Agriculture, have released the following statement voicing support for British Columbia’s supply-managed food producers:
“As discussions and commentary around North American trade continue, we want to assure our province’s supply-managed commodity producers that the B.C. government supports them, is proud of them, and will remain an advocate of B.C. agriculture on a local, national and international level.
“British Columbians are passionate about knowing where their food comes from, and value the trusted, consistent supply of the safe and high-quality dairy, poultry and egg products that are produced for them.
“The Government of British Columbia expects the federal government will negotiate trade deals that benefit all Canadians, and supports efforts that include agricultural producers in the supply-managed commodities being given the due consideration and representation they deserve.”
