Crews test-dropped 14 collars on the Alex Fraser Bridge today to clear approximately five centimetres of snow from the cables.
Full installation of the cable collar system is now underway and is expected to be finished by the end of March.
Work will continue throughout the weekend to ensure the Alex Fraser Bridge and Port Mann Bridge are safe for travel during winter weather.
Collars have not yet been dropped on the Port Mann Bridge. However if enough snow accumulates today, crews will be dropping collars to clear the cables.
Drivers are reminded that temporary lane closures may be in place on both bridges while collars are dropped to clear snow from the cables.
Maintenance crews are out in full force and will be working to keep roads, highways and bridges clear over the weekend.
With snow and wind in the forecast for the Lower Mainland this weekend, motorists are reminded to slow down, drive to conditions and check DriveBC for up-to-date travel information.
