Crews are making progress on the Highway 1 six-laning project between 202nd and 216th Street, and building the new interchange at 216th Street.
This project will reduce congestion and provide better access to Langley for drivers, pedestrians and cyclists.
Upcoming construction activities over this spring and summer will include soil compacting and settlement monitoring, forming the base for the interchange ramps, lane widening in the Highway 1 median, and installing culverts and sound walls. As well, work continues on bridge piling and the relocation of utilities.
Travellers are asked to plan ahead, expect delays and nighttime work, and use caution if visibility is reduced due to dusty conditions.
The ministry appreciates the patience of commuters and residents while work is underway. Drivers are reminded that speed limits vary in construction zones, so watch for workers and posted speed limits.
Construction of the $59-million project began in spring 2017, and is scheduled for completion in fall 2019.
