Work will begin next week to rehabilitate 1.5 kilometres of University Boulevard between Westbrook Mall and Blanca Street, one of the main access routes to the University of British Columbia.
Lafarge Canada Inc. of Coquitlam has been awarded a $3.8-million contract for the work, which includes reconstructing and repaving two lanes of road for cars and transit buses, as well as bike lanes.
To minimize traffic disruption as much as possible, construction will take place from June 11 to Aug. 15, 2018, while most students are on their summer break.
The ministry appreciates the patience of drivers, transit riders, cyclists and pedestrians, and asks travellers to obey traffic-control personnel and all signs.
The total estimated cost of this project is $4.1 million. This work marks the final piece of the multi-year rehabilitation of University Boulevard.
