Safety and access for drivers, pedestrians and cyclists is now improved, with the completion of the upgrade to Admirals Road between Hallowell Road and Maple Bank Road.
Safety improvements have been made to the intersections of Maple Bank, Hallowell and See’Nu’Pin roads. Crews built a southbound left-turn lane at See’Nu’Pin Road, making it easier for drivers to safely make a left turn at this intersection.
As well, a new traffic signal has been installed and activated at Maple Bank Road. Admirals Road has been widened with new curb, gutter and sidewalks. While the new traffic signal is now active, the sidewalk at the southwest corner of the intersection is awaiting one final hydro pole to be removed before that portion of sidewalk can be fully completed.
Completion was originally expected in fall 2017, but was delayed so that additional archeological investigation assessments and related consultation with local First Nations could take place. Crews also encountered bedrock, instead of granular soils, while digging the new storm drain trenches, requiring extra work.
The ministry appreciates the patience of commuters and residents while crews completed this safety improvement project, valued at $6.5 million.
