Gillespie Road at Roche Cove will be closed overnight, Sundays through Thursdays, starting on July 22, 2018, as crews work to replace the single-lane Roche Cove bridge.
The work is part of the ongoing Highway 14 corridor improvement project.
Nightly closures will take place from 9 p.m. through 5 a.m., and will last approximately two weeks. Crews will be installing bridge piers for the new two-lane bridge set to open in fall 2018.
During the closures, a detour will be in effect via Kangaroo Road. Traffic controllers will redirect traffic on Gillespie Road.
The $4.3-million Roche Cove bridge replacement project is part of the Highway 14 corridor improvements that include:
- transit pullouts
- queue-jump lane at Jacklin Road
- safety signs
- upgrades to the Sooke River Road intersection
- improvements to Otter Point Road
- Muir Creek slow-moving vehicle pullout
- Sombrio rest area
