Twenty-two new highway cameras were added to the DriveBC network in 2018 and cameras at existing locations have been upgraded, resulting in 70 new webcam views to provide more information about current conditions on B.C. highways.

There are now nearly 800 highway webcam views at more than 400 locations throughout B.C., providing weather, road and traffic conditions to travellers with near real-time coverage.

Some of the new cameras and views added to the DriveBC network include:

• Whiskers Point: Highway 97 on the east side of McLeod Lake, just south of the Whiskers Point Provincial Park entrance. This camera is part of the ministry’s Road Weather Information System and looks north/south, filling a gap along Highway 97, north of Prince George.
• Fort St. James: Highway 27 at Hill/Greenview Drive. This camera provides north/south views of Highway 27 for people travelling through Fort St. James.
• Irishman: Highway 3, approximately 21 kilometres southwest of Moyie. This camera is part of the ministry’s Road Weather Information System and provides north/south views.
• Nadina: Highway 16 at North Nadina Avenue in Houston. This camera provides north, west and east views and is part of the Highway 16 Transportation Action Plan.
• Ravine Way: Highway 17 at Ravine Way in Victoria. This camera provides north, south, east and west views at a busy intersection near Uptown shopping centre.

The ministry encourages people to check DriveBC.ca before they head out on the roads and highways to make sure they know before they go.
