The board of governors at University of Victoria (UVic) and members of CUPE Local 4163 Component III have ratified an agreement under government’s Sustainable Services Negotiating Mandate.
The mandate focuses on improving services for people and ensuring fair and affordable compensation.
The approximately 850 employees are sessional instructors, music performance instructors and practicum supervisors.
The agreement includes:
- a three-year term (May 1, 2019, to April 30, 2022);
- general wage increases of 2%, 2% and 2%; and
- negotiated funding for professional development and on-call pay for nursing clinical placement instructors.
The Sustainable Services Negotiating Mandate supports government’s commitment to improving the services people count on, making life more affordable and investing in sustainable economic growth. The mandate is consistent with B.C.’s commitment to balanced budgets and sound fiscal management. There are nearly 229,000 public-sector employees covered by tentative or ratified agreements reached under the mandate.
