The board of governors of Royal Roads University (RRU) and members of CUPE Local 3886 have ratified an agreement under government’s Sustainable Services Negotiating Mandate.
The mandate focuses on improving services for people and ensuring fair and affordable compensation.
This applies to approximately 70 RRU employees who provide services, such as grounds and gardens, production, housekeeping/custodial and maintenance.
The agreement includes:
- a three-year term (June 1, 2019, to May 31, 2022);
- general wage increases of 2%, 2% and 2%; and
- a labour-market adjustment for front-line service roles to address recruitment and retention challenges, as well as the establishment of a professional development fund to provide targeted training in respectful workplace culture.
The Sustainable Services Negotiating Mandate supports government’s commitment to improving the services people count on, making life more affordable and investing in sustainable economic growth. The mandate is consistent with B.C.’s commitment to balanced budgets and sound fiscal management. There are more than 230,000 public-sector employees covered by tentative or ratified agreements reached under the mandate.
