Expedited funding reduces burning, supports jobs

The Forest Enhancement Society of British Columbia has approved the allocation of $10,093,275 in expedited funding to support nine fibre use projects.

The recipients and the estimated amount of fibre to be recovered are listed below:

  • $960,066 to West Chilcotin Forest Products Ltd. (54,321 cubic metres; Chilcotin Plateau west of Williams Lake; chips for pulp)
  • $1,400,919 to Westwood Fibre Resources Ltd. (349,356 cubic metres; West Kootenays between Princeton and Castlegar; hog fuel and chips for pulp)
  • $1,182,198 to Pinnacle Renewable Energy Inc. (147,775 cubic metres; Smithers area; wood pellets)
  • $2,563,430 to Seaton Forest Products Ltd. (289,000 cubic metres; Smithers area; cants)
  • $3,430,491 to Cariboo Chilcotin Rehabilitation Ltd. (227,486 cubic metres; Chilcotin Plateau west of Williams Lake; wood pellets)
  • $120,000 to Zellstoff Celgar LP (8,000 cubic metres; outside Castlegar; chips for pulp)
  • $97,367 to Zellstoff Celgar LP (6,367 cubic metres; outside Castlegar; chips for pulp)
  • $90,500 to Ledcor Forest Products Partnership (25,847 cubic metres; north of Kamloops; cants)
  • $248,304 to Ledcor Forest Products Partnership (22,249 cubic metres; north of Kamloops; hog fuel for bio-energy)
