Recreational cyclists, bike commuters and pedestrians who use the Galloping Goose Trail are advised that intermittent overnight trail closures may be in effect at the McKenzie interchange construction site from Tuesday, Aug. 13 through Nov. 5, 2019.
No trail closures will happen during peak usage periods, or on Sundays or holidays. If closures are necessary, they will only occur between 8:30 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. During closures, trail users can detour onto Burnside Road between Belgrave Road and the Burnside bridge.
Highly visible orange signs are located along the Galloping Goose Trail at each road junction to advise of the possibility of closure.
These intermittent closures are required to undertake landscaping, topsoil placement and other construction work in the area.
During construction, the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure is committed to minimizing delays and maximizing predictability for all commuters, including trail users, by undertaking most of the work outside of peak travel periods.
