2016 Peace Flood Recovery Program

The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure has invested over $85 million on the extensive response and recovery work completed since June 2016, when flooding caused significant damage to roads and bridges throughout the Peace region.

Major flood recovery program projects underway:

Fur Thief Creek Bridge (west of Chetwynd)
Project: replacement of the existing culvert with a two-lane, 26-metre-long bridge
Budget: $6 million
Contractor: Formula Contractors Ltd.

Rolla Road (east of Dawson Creek)
Project: replacement of the existing bridge with a two-lane, 50-metre long bridge that crosses Dawson Creek
Budget: $20 million
Contractor: Brocor Construction Ltd.

Completed major transportation infrastructure projects:

Bowlder Creek Bridge (west of Chetwynd)
Project: replacement of the existing culvert with a two-lane, 30.5-metre long bridge
Budget: $7.1 million
Completed: 2019

Commotion Creek Bridge (west of Chetwynd)
Project: replacement of existing culvert with a two-lane, 38-metre long bridge
Budget: $7.3 million

Parnell Bridge (north-northeast Dawson Creek)
Project: replacement of two existing culverts with a two-lane, 40-metre long bridge
Budget: $4 million

Stone Creek Bridge (southwest of Chetwynd)
Project: replacement of the existing culvert with a two-lane, 19-metre long bridge
Budget: $4.6 million

Tippy Corner Creek Bridge (west of Chetwynd)
Project: replacement of the existing culvert with a two-lane, 17.5-metre long bridge
Budget: $3.8 million

Willow Flats Bridge (southwest of Chetwynd)
Project: replacement of the existing culvert with a two-lane, 13.5-metre long bridge
Budget: $4 million

Walper Bridge (south of Pouce Coupe)
Project: construction of a new single-lane, 25-metre-long bridge at Tupper Creek, to replace the original Walper bridge that washed out in the June 2016 flood
Total project cost: $4.2 million

Zonnebeke Creek (south of Chetwynd)
Project: replacement of the current three-metre culvert with a 6.4-metre one
Total project cost: $12 million
