Recreational cyclists, bike commuters and pedestrians who use the Galloping Goose Regional Trail are reminded that sections of the trail will be closed at the McKenzie interchange construction site through the end of November 2019.
During this period, it is recommended that pedestrians and cyclists who use the Galloping Goose detour around the closures by taking Burnside Road via Belgrave Road on the west, and where Burnside Road meets the trail on the east.
Specific closures and detour maps are posted to the project website: https://engage.gov.bc.ca/mckenzieinterchange/construction-updates//
Students who access area schools via the pedestrian overpass over Highway 1 can continue to do so and are asked to obey signage and the direction of traffic control personnel.
Detours will be clearly marked with signs. Traffic controllers will be present when necessary to ensure the safety of travellers, as well as workers.
These closures will allow crews to finish paving the trail, while minimizing nightly disruptions to area residents.
The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure thanks people for their patience while final construction of the trail is completed.
