Premier John Horgan has issued the following statement on the passing of Robert H. Lee:
“Learning of Robert H. Lee’s death on Wednesday, Feb. 19, left me, and many others, feeling a mix of sadness and appreciation for a life well lived.
“Bob made a mark on Vancouver and on British Columbia as a whole. A self-made B.C. real estate leader, he rose to success from humble beginnings and spent a great deal of his time and energy giving back to the communities that meant so much to him.
“The values Bob learned from his father set the course for his life: to care for family and community first. Bob’s life embodied this philosophy and many people have benefited from his generous spirit.
“As I reflect on Bob’s contributions to British Columbia, I think about his remarkable philanthropy at the University of British Columbia and beyond, how he was awarded the Order of British Columbia, was named a business laureate of B.C. and was honoured with the Order of Canada. I hope that his tremendous contributions to our province will offer comfort to Bob’s loved ones as they mourn the loss of a great man.
“On behalf of British Columbians, I offer my condolences to his family and friends. Bob will be missed, but his legacy will live on.”
