Premier John Horgan has issued the following statement on Eid al-Fitr, the end of Ramadan:
“Beginning today, the Muslim community in British Columbia and around the world will observe Eid al-Fitr, marking the end of Ramadan.
“Many people will celebrate Eid al-Fitr through prayer and acts of service to others. During this challenging time, remembering and acting on the values of charity and compassion is what will get us through.
“I can only imagine how difficult it was for families and friends not to gather and pray together this Ramadan. Thank you for finding new ways to connect while maintaining social distance from others, to keep our communities safe and healthy.
“On behalf of all British Columbians, I wish those who observed the holy month a joyous end to Ramadan.
“Eid Mubarak!”
