Approved deficits for B.C. PSIs

Deficit approval represents a conservative forecast for public post-secondary institutions’ (PSIs) budgets ending on March 31.

It is not uncommon for a PSI to forecast a deficit and end the fiscal year with a balanced or small surplus.

Government’s fiscal year runs from April 1 to March 31.

For 2020-21, 20 PSIs are approved for deficits up to $178.9 million:

  • Selkirk College
  • Camosun College
  • Vancouver Community College
  • Coast Mountain College
  • Capilano University
  • College of New Caledonia
  • Emily Carr University of Art and Design
  • College of the Rockies
  • Kwantlen Polytechnic University
  • Justice Institute of British Columbia
  • University of British Columbia
  • Langara College
  • University of Northern British Columbia
  • North Island College
  • University of the Fraser Valley
  • Northern Lights College
  • University of Victoria
  • Okanagan College
  • Vancouver Island University

For 2021-22, 17 PSIs are approved for deficits up to $75.2 million:
