Backgrounders

Funding for Phase 2 of Oak Park in Langford
  • The Province invested $8 million through the Building BC: Community Housing Fund for the 80 homes at Phase 2 of the Oak Park redevelopment.
  • The Community Housing Fund supports mixed-income buildings where 50% of the units are for households with incomes up to $64,000, 30% of the units are for households with incomes up to approximately $74,000 and 20% of the units are for households with very low incomes (including those on income or disability assistance).
  • Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation provided approximately $843,000 through the CMHC-BC Bilateral Agreement's Canada Community Housing Initiative.
  • The City of Langford contributed:
    • $908,403 from its Affordable Housing Fund; and
    • $788,065 in municipal reductions.
  • Pacifica Housing provided the land, valued at $3.15 million.
  • Through the Childcare BC New Spaces Fund, the Province is investing $815,000 to support the creation of the 36 new licensed child care spaces at the Oak Park redevelopment.
