About anti-racism initiatives in B.C.
  • This funding increase is part of a $2.9-million investment in anti-racism initiatives, delivered through StrongerBC: BC’s Economic Recovery Plan.
  • The B.C. government is undertaking a variety of anti-racism initiatives to make B.C. a safer and more inclusive place for everyone. These include:
    • investing more than $1.2 million in multicultural grants for 190 anti-racism projects in B.C.;
    • launching an anti-racism public information campaign; and
    • developing a new institutional change program to address systemic discrimination within the public service.
  • The Province has taken additional steps to tackle racism, including:
    • committing to introduce a new anti-racism act and legislation on race-based data collection;
    • reinstating the B.C. Human Rights Commission to promote and protect human rights for all British Columbians; and
    • launching an investigation into allegations of discrimination in B.C.’s health-care system.
