Premier John Horgan has issued the following statement marking Mid-Autumn Festival:
“Beginning this week, Mid-Autumn and Full Moon Festival celebrations will take place in many Asian communities throughout British Columbia and around the world.
“Families will enjoy mooncakes and rice cakes, light colourful lanterns and admire the brightest and fullest moon of the year. While this year’s celebrations may once again look different, we can safely reunite with close friends and family to enjoy Mid-Autumn Festival. As we mark the turning of the seasons, it is time to redouble our effort against COVID-19 so we can keep our loved ones and communities safe.
“Mid-Autumn Festival is also an opportunity to reflect on the multicultural province we are so fortunate to call home and to speak out against hate in all its forms. A stronger British Columbia is one where everyone feels safe and valued in our communities.
“On behalf of all British Columbians, I wish everyone celebrating a happy Mid-Autumn and Full Moon Festival!”
