Improvements are coming to the 216th Street/Glover Road (Highway 10) intersection in Langley to provide safer access for people who use the new 216th Street interchange at Highway 1.

“The Province is investing in this safety upgrade at the 216th/Glover Road intersection in partnership with the Township of Langley,” said Rob Fleming, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure. “This project improves connections to the recently opened 216th Street interchange, as we work to improve the mobility of people and goods in the Lower Mainland and into the Fraser Valley.” 

The CP Rail line runs parallel to Glover Road at this location. To improve the 216th Street/Glover Road intersection, safety improvements and upgrades will be made to the CP Rail crossing. The left-turn lane from Glover Road eastbound to 216th Street northbound will be extended so more vehicles can safely queue when trains are present without affecting through traffic.

Signals will be added to the intersection so pedestrians and cyclists can more safely cross Glover Road. The intersection will be widened to improve turning movements to and from 216th Street.

The total project budget is $2.8 million, with the Province of B.C. contributing $1.8 million and the Township of Langley contributing $1 million.

A contract has been awarded to Crown Contracting Ltd. of Surrey for the intersection improvement project with work scheduled to begin in February 2021. For any possible delays due to construction, drivers are reminded to check: DriveBC.ca
