Drivers are advised Telegraph Creek Road (Highway 51) has been reopened to light-duty passenger vehicles in both directions for timed intervals.
Drivers can expect intermittent openings daily from:
- 5 to 7 a.m.;
- noon to 1 p.m.; and
- 7 to 9 p.m.
Following a washout on April 15, ministry engineers and crews are working around the clock to reopen the road to all traffic as quickly as possible. The permanent repairs are expected to be completed in the month of May.
Teams continue to work with Emergency Management BC (EMBC) to provide support to the community of Telegraph Creek.
The ministry thanks the Tahltan First Nation, the Tahltan Nation Development Corporation, the community of Dease Lake, the Regional District of Kitimat Stikine, EMBC and first responders for their work and co-operation.
The ministry thanks everyone impacted for their patience while work continues toward a full reopening.
Motorists are reminded to follow posted speed limits, traffic control devices and directions from flag persons.
