Drivers are advised that starting on Monday, Oct. 18, repairs will be carried out on Whiteman Bridge on Westside Road through Okanagan Indian Band Reserve to keep the bridge in good operating condition for the travelling public.
Starting Monday, Oct. 18 and continuing until Thursday, Nov. 4, the Whiteman Bridge will be closed from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays to Thursdays with mid-day openings from noon to 12:30 p.m. for vehicle and pedestrian traffic. A weight restriction of 20,000 kilograms will be in effect.
The times were selected to avoid the morning and afternoon commutes, and to ensure the local school bus is not affected.
The alternate route will be Highway 97 from Kelowna to Vernon.
Drivers should alter travel plans as necessary.
The ministry had planned to do these repairs in the summer, but the work was postponed due to the wildfires in the area.
