FireSmart Community Funding and Supports grants in the Northwest Fire Centre 2022

The B.C. government is providing $13,047,561 through the FireSmart Community Funding and Supports category of the Community Resiliency Investment program for 107 wildfire-risk-mitigation projects throughout British Columbia.

The approved applications within the Northwest Fire Centre’s jurisdiction are below.

Northwest Fire Centre ($495,811 for six grants):

  • City of Terrace: $114,886 to assist with education, planning, interagency co-operation, cross-training, FireSmart activities in residential areas
  • District of Kitimat: $71,890 to assist with education, planning, FireSmart activities in residential areas
  • Kitimat-Stikine Regional District: $92,060 to assist with planning, education, interagency co-operation
  • North Coast Regional District: $110,933 to assist with education, development considerations, FireSmart activities in residential areas
  • Tahltan Nation: $35,170 to assist with education, planning, interagency co-operation
  • Town of Smithers: $70,872 to assist with education, planning, interagency co-operation, emergency planning, cross-training
