What to know about BC Transit service expansion

The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure is committing approximately $29 million for new BC Transit system expansion in 36 systems around the province.

Service expansion:

Kamloops Conventional:

  • Route 4 Pacific Way will receive new routing.
  • Route 3 Westsyde will receive run-time modifications to improve on time performance.
  • This will introduce 1,800 additional hours to the system beginning September 2024.
  • Improvements to the weekday span on route 18 Mt. Paul and the introduction of weekend service.
  • Route 18 will also feature adding 10-minute running time per trip to better connect riders to amenities, and the addition of route service along Chief Eli Larue Way to better serve the Tk’emlups First Nation.
  • This will introduce 2,900 additional hours beginning January 2025.

Kamloops Custom:

  • Increasing handyDART service to reduce the use of taxi-supplement program.
  • Increasing handyDART service in the Tk’emlups First Nation.
  • Extension of handyDART hours to alleviate peak times.
  • This will introduce 4,000 additional hours beginning September 2024.
