Premier David Eby has issued the following statement celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival and the Full Moon Festival:
“With a bright, full moon in the sky, Asian communities in B.C. and beyond begin celebrating the fall harvest and the many blessings of the past year.
“The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Full Moon Festival, is a time to gather with loved ones, give thanks for the harvest and share hopes for the future. People mark the occasion by lighting lanterns, enjoying mooncakes or rice cakes, and admiring the moon, which represents reunion, unity and completeness.
“The Mid-Autumn Festival is also an opportunity for everyone to learn more about the diverse traditions of Asian communities and to reflect on the many contributions they make to our province.
“I wish everyone who is celebrating a happy Mid-Autumn Festival and Full Moon Festival, and a prosperous year ahead.”
