Premier David Eby has issued the following statement recognizing Eid al-Adha:
“Today in B.C. and around the globe, Muslims will gather together to mark Eid al-Adha, one of the holiest festivals in the Muslim calendar.
“This sacred time, also known as badi Eid, or the Feast of Sacrifice, is a time to remember the devotion of the Prophet Ibrahim, and to celebrate the conclusion of the annual Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca.
“Many families observe this time of joy and thankfulness with prayers and with charitable giving, and by gathering together with friends and family for festive meals.
“During this time of celebration, I know many will be thinking of people they care about who are overseas and affected by global conflict. We join with them in wishing for peace and safety for people in Middle East and around the world.”
