- Busy routes get more trips on weekdays, Sundays
__________
The introduction of additional service hours is giving people in Squamish improved transit options.
“People in Squamish now have more transit options on the Brackendale and Highlands routes,” said George Anderson, parliamentary secretary for transit. “By adding service hours on those routes, we’re making it easier for people to connect with their communities and access the services they rely on.”
Strengthening connections
To support increasing ridership and convenient transit service for people throughout the province, BC Transit and the B.C. government partnered with the District of Squamish to increase frequency of service.
This builds on the work done in communities throughout B.C. to provide improved transit services and connect communities. The service expansion began on Sunday, Jan. 4, 2026, with the introduction of additional service hours on local routes.
Trips added weekdays, Sundays
Travellers now have expanded frequency of service on routes 1 Brackendale and 2 Highlands:
- weekday trips added to Route 1 Brackendale and one late-evening trip added Sundays
- additional trips on Route 2 Highlands during the week and one late-evening trip added Sundays
These investments in the local transit system ensure that public transportation services are dependable in Squamish. The Ministry of Transportation and Transit’s ongoing support for BC Transit ensures people outside Metro Vancouver continue to have access to the transit services they need.
Since 2017, the ministry has increased the provincial operating grant to BC Transit by approximately 70%, supporting transit service levels throughout the province and continuing to implement transit expansion that benefits people in British Columbia.
