Drivers are advised that the eastbound lanes of the Sagebrush overpass on Highway 1 between the Columbia Street exit and Summit Drive on-ramp in Kamloops will be closed for approximately four weeks, starting Saturday, May 9, 2026.
Starting at 7 p.m., both eastbound lanes on Highway 1 will be closed to allow crews to replace the bridge joints on the overpass. This involves pouring new concrete to maintain the structure in good operating condition, so drivers may not see crews onsite while the concrete is curing.
Vehicles will travel in one lane in each direction on the westbound overpass from 3:30 a.m. until 10 p.m., with a width restriction of 3.8 metres in place. A nighttime detour from 10 p.m. until 3:30 a.m. for westbound traffic will allow extraordinary loads (up to 5.5 metres) to move during the full project duration. There will be no restrictions for nighttime eastbound traffic from 10 p.m. until 3:30 a.m.
While the project has been planned to minimize delays as much as possible, travellers are advised to allow extra time to get to their destination during the construction period.
Drivers are asked to obey traffic-control personnel and plan accordingly.
