Bridget Colvin won three medals in snowshoeing at the 2009 Special Olympics World Winter Games in Boise, Idaho, including one gold!
She’s hoping to go for gold again by qualifying to compete at the 2014 Special Olympics Canada Summer Games being held in Vancouver.
The Special Olympics BC - Burnaby athlete is training for the 800 and 1,500 metre track and field events.
“I like to focus on my training,” Colvin says.
Colvin’s parents, Debra and Paul, have been her strongest supporters. For the last 13 years, they have each coached five different sports for Special Olympics BC - Burnaby, volunteering their time and expertise to help athletes achieve their podium dreams.
The Province of B.C. today announced a $1-million contribution to the 2014 Special Olympics Canada Summer Games and Special Olympics BC, which will support athletes like Colvin as they change their lives and improve their health through Special Olympics.
