Premier Christy Clark and Minister of Health, Terry Lake lead a delegation of medical experts and people personally affected by overdoses to Ottawa to speak to the federal government about a coordinated approach to reducing opioid overdose deaths.
Some of the actions discussed were additional RCMP resources, banning pill presses, and diplomatic efforts with countries like China to stop the export of these lethal drugs.The provincial government has already taken a number of steps to address the overdose crisis, forming a task force to provide expert advice, expanding the availability of naloxone, and launching a public awareness campaign.
