VICTORIA - Minister of Finance Michael de Jong laced up and skated with players from a local minor hockey team at Save-On-Foods Memorial Arena on Feb. 18, 2013, and made a donation to KidSport Victoria.
Instead of purchasing himself a new pair of shoes - a pre-budget tradition for B.C.’s Finance Ministers - de Jong decided to mirror an element of the provincial budget and invest in B.C.’s children by donating a modest sum of money to KidSport Victoria.
The funds will be spent locally by KidSport Victoria to assist low income families with costs associated with their children’s sports.
