QUESNEL - With a beautiful sunny day providing the perfect backdrop, Premier Christy Clark, Cariboo North MLA Coralee Oakes and Prince George-Mackenzie MLA Mike Morris enjoyed participating in the 42nd annual Billy Barker Days and 50th annual Quesnel Rodeo.
For MLA Oakes, the colourful community event proved a family affair. Her grandfather founded the Quesnel Rodeo 50 years ago - and earlier in her career, as a summer student, MLA Oakes worked at Billy Barker Days. No less than 40 of Oakes’ extended family members joined a large turnout of local residents and visitors to enjoy the largest free family festival in British Columbia.
Billy Barker Days and the Quesnel Rodeo created a festive opportunity for area residents to honour their local history and celebrate their dynamic community today.
