A tsunami along B.C.’s coast is a rare but real threat. The last major tsunami to hit B.C. shores was on March 27,1964 when Port Alberni (virtualmuseum.ca) was inundated with water following the 9.2M Great Alaska Earthquake (nws.weather.gov) . Even though it’s been just over 50 years, those of us living in a tsunami zone (flickr.com) need to be prepared - both with knowledge and a 72-hour kit.
