Area restriction orders are in effect for both the Goldstream River wildfire (N42293) and the Blacktail Mountain wildfire (N51329) in the Southeast Fire Centre.

Drivers are advised to expect delays starting next week on Highway 3A, while deck resurfacing takes place on the Shoreacres Bridge.

Glade II, the new, built-in-B.C. cable ferry connecting Glade residents with Highway 3A across the Kootenay River, is undergoing final testing on site and will be in service at the beginning of February.

Due to recent changes in weather and fire behaviour, the closure of the Rocky Mountain Forest District will be rescinded effective at noon Pacific time on Friday, Sept. 15, 2017.

In the interest of public safety, effective at noon Pacific Time on Saturday, Sept. 2, 2017, all Crown land within the Rocky Mountain Natural Resource District is closed to public access due to the extreme fire danger rating, the number of unprecedented aggressive wildfires throughout the region and moderate winds forecasted over the next few days.

A project to replace the South Slocan Bridge with rock fill and a pedestrian tunnel will soon go to tender with construction anticipated to start this spring.

The Government of British Columbia is moving ahead with a project to upgrade ramps at the Glade ferry terminal in advance of the arrival of the new cable ferry, which connects the community to Highway 3A.
