Comox Valley students can look forward to better learning environments with a brand-new school coming to Hornby Island and work set to begin on a partially replaced Lake Trail Middle school. 

People in the Comox Valley will soon have access to a new long-term care facility that will provide 126 publicly-funded long-term and hospice care beds.

Women and children in the Comox Valley leaving violence now have another safe place to regroup, recover and begin rebuilding their lives, with the opening of a new women’s housing project in Courtenay.

Renovations planned for a social housing complex in the community will offer safer, more comfortable housing for more than 100 people, as well as job opportunities for people who face employment barriers due to poverty or disability.

With the opening of The Junction, a 46-unit supportive housing project in the community, people experiencing homelessness in Courtenay will have a safe and secure place to call home.

Under the BC Rural Dividend Program, the Government of British Columbia is providing $278,800 to the K’omoks First Nation, Village of Cumberland and the District of Lantzville for three community projects.

People with low to moderate incomes and those at risk of homelessness in the Comox Valley, including Indigenous peoples, now have more affordable housing options and better opportunities that come with stable housing.

Seniors in the Comox Valley will be able to access the long-term and end-of-life care they need as over 150 permanent beds are added to their communities.
