Highway 2 at 8th Street in Dawson Creek will be closed in both directions for four days starting Tuesday, May 25, to allow for utility work.

Work at a number of streams affected by flooding in the Peace District last June will be completed before the spring run-off.

Engineering work is underway to build a bridge structure to replace the culvert at Commotion Creek on Highway 97.

A new bridge is being planned to replace the drainage culverts at the 8th Street crossing of Dawson Creek.

Preliminary work is underway on Rolla Road (known locally as Snake Pit Road), and 8th Street in Dawson Creek, two sites affected by the Peace flooding last June, announced MLA for Peace River South Mike Bernier on behalf of Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Todd Stone.

Rolla Road (known locally as Snake Pit Road) has now re-opened with the completion of a temporary bridge replacement over the road.

The Government of British Columbia is providing $2.5 million to the Peace River Regional District (PRRD) to undertake debris removal and preventative work, designed to reduce flood risk in the region.

The ministry is asking those planning to travel to the South Peace Region along Highway 97 to be aware of closures along this route due to flooding in the area and to check DriveBC.ca and TranBC.ca websites for up to date information.
