The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure invites the public to attend an information session regarding the future replacement of Kicking Horse River Bridges One and Two, located on Highway 95 in Golden.

As British Columbia experiences some of its strongest tourism growth in years, Golden is receiving $689,171 from the Province’s Resort Municipality Initiative (RMI) to support its tourism industry.

The B.C. government is investing $45,000 to help the Golden community find a long-term solution for accessing the lower Kicking Horse Canyon and maximizing the tourism opportunities in the region.

The Province remains committed to facilitating an agreement between Canadian Pacific (CP), the community of Golden and local rafting companies that would allow visitors to enjoy the 2016 rafting season.

Golden will receive a total of $554,708 for projects that help to support tourism infrastructure and amenities.

Resort Municipality Initiative (RMI) funding has provided the Town of Golden a rare chance to afford significant improvements along Canada's main street, the well-travelled Highway 1.

The Government of British Columbia is growing tourism economies by providing $10.5 million to 14 resort municipalities throughout the province.

The 50th anniversary of the Trans-Canada Highway and the construction of the new four-lane Donald Bridge was celebrated today by Kootenay-Columbia MP David Wilks, on behalf of the Honourable Denis Lebel Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, and by Minister of Community, Sport and Cultural Development Bill Bennett, representing Mary Polak, British Columbia's Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure.

The Province will be investing over $2 million this year to resurface and widen a portion of Highway 95, approximately nine kilometres south of Golden, improving the route for area residents, tourists, the forest industry and commercial transport vehicles along this important corridor.
