The BC Wildfire Service is urging the public to be more careful with fire use to reduce the risk of human-caused wildfires, which divert valuable firefighting resources away from naturally occurring wildfires.

The B.C. government has allocated another $1,059,199 in Community Resiliency Investment program grants to 11 local governments and First Nations communities in the Kamloops Fire Centre to help support wildfire risk reduction projects.

More than 100 people will get training and work experience in the forest sector, giving them opportunities for job success and improved lives, through $3.3 million in provincial government funding.

Effective at noon on Wednesday, June 12, 2019, Category 2 and Category 3 open fires, as well as some other activities and the use of certain equipment, will be restricted throughout the Kamloops Fire Centre to help prevent human-caused wildfires.
