Another hot-in-place asphalt resurfacing project is now complete in the Kamloops area.

Modern technology, improved infrastructure and newer and cleaner buses are topping the list of BC Transit projects for Kamloops soon to roll out under phase one of the new Public Transit Infrastructure Fund.

Two local companies will begin resurfacing work in the coming weeks on Highway 97C and the Trans-Canada Highway with the awarding of contracts to Belvedere Place Contracting Ltd. and Dawson Construction.

The Government of B.C. is providing $2.6 million in B.C. Air Access Program funding to support improvements at Kamloops Airport.

A small, local bridge on Kamloops Lake Drive near the west end of Kamloops Lake will be replaced this summer.

Several road resurfacing projects are set to kick off in the Kamloops and Nicola Valley areas, including on Highway 97C in Logan Lake, Highway 8 outside of Merritt and on Douglas Lake and Long Lake Roads.

Construction will soon be getting underway on the Vinsulla passing lane and commercial truck pullout project that will improve safety and the flow of traffic on the Yellowhead Highway north of Kamloops.  

More hot-in-place asphalt resurfacing projects are coming to the Kamloops area this summer, resulting in less greenhouse gas emissions during the construction process and smoother roads for local residents, tourists and industry.

Variable speed signs are now active in three locations throughout the province as part of a pilot project to help reduce the frequency and severity of weather-related crashes.

The B.C. government is providing more funding to BC Transit to significantly increase handyDART service hours in Kamloops, benefitting persons with disabilities and seniors.
