A series of resurfacing improvements on Road 40 and in the Seton Portage area west of Lillooet will get underway this season, providing safer conditions for the Shalalth Reserve and communities of Seton Portage, Gold Bridge and Bralorne, announced Fraser-Nicola MLA Jackie Tegart on behalf of Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Todd Stone.

The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure will be holding a public information session on Wednesday, March 29, in Lillooet to provide the public with an opportunity to review the design and offer input on traffic management during construction.

Residents of the northern St’át’imc territory and the greater Lillooet region will be growing more local food in 2017 as the Lillooet Agriculture and Food Society (LAFS) begins its “Growing Healthy Communities” project.

Emergency stabilization work at the Ten-Mile Slide on Highway 99 northeast of Lillooet is now underway, providing immediate short-term stabilization that will allow the highway to be opened to two lanes, improving safety and mobility for the local communities and the traveling public.

Up to 12 Aboriginal people in the Lillooet area are receiving the training they need for jobs in their communities, thanks to the federal-provincial partnership under the Canada-B.C. Job Fund Agreement.

Three Aboriginal organizations in the Central Interior will receive nearly $165,000 in funding from the Province for the development and enhancement of culture-based domestic violence programs for Aboriginal families and communities.

As part of the Province’s work to make sure British Columbians have access to high-quality primary care, 14 internationally-trained physicians will begin practicing in rural and remote communities in B.C. this month, including two new family doctors in Lillooet.
