Increasing water levels will lead to more flooding this week along the Nicola Lake and river.

Residents along Nicola Lake are asked to take steps to protect their properties from localized flooding, expected to occur later this week.

The provincial government and Trans Mountain announced a final benefits agreement that will see B.C. workers having priority for construction jobs resulting from Kinder Morgan’s Trans Mountain pipeline project.

Skilled-trades students in the Nicola-Similkameen and Gold Trail school districts will benefit from a three-year, $15-million investment by the B.C. government to support youth trades programs with the purchase of new trades training equipment.

Students in the Nicola-Similkameen School District will benefit from $1.3 million in provincial funding for a school upgrade project, classroom supplies and new school buses, MLA Jackie Tegart announced on behalf of Education Minister Mike Bernier.

Under the BC Rural Dividend, the Province is providing $60,000 in new grants to the Fraser Nicola region.

The B.C. government has distributed $30,478 in compensation for municipal property taxes to the City of Merritt.
