Former residents of Woodlands who attended the school before Aug. 1, 1974, will finally receive compensation for systemic abuse suffered at the provincial institution, announced Premier John Horgan.

Students in the New Westminster School District are connecting with skills and technology training development thanks to a $17,500 grant to the district from the Province’s Shoulder Tappers Program.

Students, teachers and staff at four schools in the New Westminster school district will benefit from $175,000 in provincial School Enhancement Program funding.

Families in the New Westminster school district will benefit from improved transportation services thanks to $6,073 in funding under the new provincial Student Transportation Fund.

Students, teachers and staff at F.W. Howay Elementary will soon have a safer and refreshed school with work now underway to seismically upgrade the school.

The new state-of-the-art $20.7-million Fraser River Middle school opened its doors to hundreds of excited students on the first day of school.
