Individuals wishing to provide feedback on an intentions paper proposing how land might be protected in the South Okanagan now have until Oct. 31, 2015, to offer input.

Osoyoos will receive $403,692 for projects that help support tourism infrastructure and amenities.

The provincial government is inviting British Columbians to provide feedback on an intentions paper proposing how land might be protected in the South Okanagan.

The first phase of improvements to the waterfront Gyro Beach area in Osoyoos is complete in time for the summer season. The $600,000 Phase A includes construction of a lighted stone walkway, boardwalk, extended grassy areas, tables, benches, trees and extensive landscaping.

With Haynes Point Provincial Park now an archaeological site, the Province and Osoyoos Indian Band (OIB) have agreed that Haynes Point and Okanagan Falls provincial parks will be managed by the OIB.

Following the busy camping season, the discovery of ancestral remains in the spring, and an agreement between the Province and the Osoyoos Indian Band (OIB), Haynes Point Park closed Oct. 1, 2014, for an archaeological inventory and assessment.

To address the growing need for supportive care for seniors, Boundary-Similkameen MLA Linda Larson has announced that the Province of B.C. has signed a three-year agreement with the Desert Valley Hospice Society to help develop a hospice centre in Osoyoos.

A new agreement between the Province and the Osoyoos Indian Band (OIB) will honour and respect the OIB cultural heritage sites and values within Haynes Point Provincial Park.

Residents and interested parties are invited to attend an open house on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013, regarding the ongoing restoration project at Haynes Point Provincial Park.
